Following the initial assessment period the client begins phase I of his/her treatment. Each client has a complete diagnostic evaluation with our medical director and then along with our clinical team an appropriate individualized treatment program is developed. Endeavor House provides each person with a full comprehensive program of group, individual work, nursing, and family sessions; with the twelve-step philosophy as a guiding foundation to their recovery process.
The focus of phase I is on Change and Growth. The client will begin with an initial three week black out period. This gives the client the opportunity to assimilate into the Endeavor House community without external distraction. Clients are able to send and receive mail and participate in all house activities including meetings, groups, recreation, etc. This phase examines an exploration of the client's attitudes, values, feelings and behaviors. Clients will be aided in resolving remaining dysfunction in major life areas. Emphasis will be placed on the development of non-chemical coping skills. Participation in psychotherapy groups, life skill management, stress management and didactic groups and workshops structure the day. Supervised outside AN/NA meetings are attended on a daily basis, with the intention of each client building sponsorship and sober networks. Endeavor House provides transportation to these meetings.
Treatment Modalities Include:
Individual Counseling
Individual Counseling provides a chance to develop close constructive relationships on a regular basis. The primary counseling staff regularly provides individual counseling time with each client. This time is spent reviewing progress and assisting the client in achieving the goals identified in the client's individualized treatment plan. Each client is seen individually by a clinician at least once per week or as specifically needed.
Group Therapy
Groups are led by counseling staff with the focus on learning to identify and deal constructively with feelings, defenses, and attitudes. These groups also focus on the clients master treatment plan, review progress and provide constructive methods of dealing with daily problems related to community living and goal attainment of the treatment plan. Key recovery concepts are presented and discussed, with special emphasis on how these concepts apply to each client's life. Each client will attend at least six groups per day. Special groups may be incorporated into a client's treatment program as needed.
Family Therapy
The purpose of family and significant others' involvement at Endeavor House will be to assist the family in identifying areas of strength, areas of interest as well as problem areas in the family system. Families are encouraged to attend our family program which meets each saturday.
Children's Program
Children who are raised in a family where there is a chemically dependent person have numerous strengths that are often overlooked by therapists. Resourcefulness and leadership abilities are two of the many positive qualities that children from chemically dependent families often acquire. We, at Endeavor House, feel that children are doing the best they can at all times. We do not think it is helpful to label children or families in a negative way. We want to find out from children what they have been doing to make the best of the situation. Our goal is to help some of their behaviors (what are their attempts at solutions) are not working, we will work with the children so that together we can find solutions that will work. In this manner, our mission to reduce the risk that children will consider any drug to be a solution to any problem at any time.
